Lay Leader Update
March 11, 2022
Greetings Laity of the Florida Annual Conference!
I don’t know about you but this has been a week where it seems the whole world is in what my Mom would call a “rough patch”. She used that term to describe any challenging time of life, big or small, personal or communal. Whether it involved relationships, health, death, finances, world events, you name it - being in a “rough patch” covered it all. And on a spiritual level, it’s the season of Lent where we find ourselves on the journey with Christ that leads to the Cross. Then to top it all off, this Sunday is perhaps my least favorite TIME of the year - the move to Daylight Savings Time! Oh goodie - the day where we lose an hour when most of us feel the 24 hours we have is no where near enough (don’t forget to set your clocks forward!).
Mom was also a person of immense faith and hope. She knew “rough patches” were temporary in the grand scheme of life and that sooner or later we would move through them. There were two important things I learned from her. One was that no matter how rough things get and how alone we might feel, as people of faith we never journey through these times alone. And two, God knows and hears us when we hit these patches.
Friends, regardless of what kind of patch you are in, please know that our living and loving God is with us before, during and after to guide us through. And the best news of all - EASTER IS COMING!
Blessings!
